ATLANTA — A 19-year-old Augusta woman is in custody after police say she shot another woman during a verbal dispute in the parking lot of a Metro Atlanta Walmart store Tuesday morning.

Shameia Thomas, 19, was arrested and warrants have been obtained, charging her with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, South Fulton Police announced Tuesday night.

Thomas was arrested after the shooting which police said took place at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the store, which is located at 6149 Old National Highway, South Fulton Police said.

The victim, who is not being named for her safety, police said, was taken to a local hospital where she is in serious condition after undergoing surgery on Tuesday, South Fulton police spokesman Jubal Rogers said.

The store was closed for about two hours following the incident. Thomas was found inside the store and was taken into custody. Detectives determined that the motive of the shooting stemmed from a personal dispute between the two women, Rogers said.
