Zero No-Chase Policy Effective Immediately Says Atlanta Police
Effective immediately, Atlanta police will no longer chase suspects, the department announced Friday.
ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta police will no longer chase suspects. That’s what officers were told Friday in a department email by Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields, WSB-TV reported. The new policy will be effective immediately.
According to Shields, the reason behind the change is for safety reasons for both the officers and the public. The change comes after last month’s deadly crash during a chase that killed two men, according to the news outlet.
