โ€ข Augusta University researchers identify gene that may help protect against heart disease (theaugustapress.com) โ€” Researchers at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia have pinpointed a gene, LMOD1, that appears to help protect coronary arteries from plaque buildup, offering new insight into why some people are more prone to heart disease. Using specially bred mice, they found that removing the gene led to rapid coronary artery disease, suggesting future treatments might focus more on strengthening artery walls alongside traditional cholesterol control.
