• Augusta University researchers identify gene that may help protect against heart disease (theaugustapress.com) — Researchers at Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia have pinpointed a gene, LMOD1, that appears to help protect coronary arteries from plaque buildup, offering new insight into why some people are more prone to heart disease. Using specially bred mice, they found that removing the gene led to rapid coronary artery disease, suggesting future treatments might focus more on strengthening artery walls alongside traditional cholesterol control.

She describes escaping a violent marriage, raising six children, and building a top-producing real estate career here. Proceeds from the book will fund scholarships for children with incarcerated parents.

• Candidate for Lieutenant Governor makes campaign stop in Augusta (wfxg.com) — A Republican candidate for Georgia lieutenant governor stopped in Augusta to pitch plans focused on middle-class affordability, education, and major tax cuts. He criticized current property tax levels and incentives for big tech data centers, and emphasized his long relationship with GOP gubernatorial hopeful Rick Jackson. Voters in Augusta will see his name on the November 3 ballot.
