• The Dale transforms downtown Avondale Estates with new restaurants, shops and gathering spaces (cbsnews.com) — Downtown Avondale Estates is being reshaped by The Dale, a new retail and restaurant hub beside the Town Green that's drawing more foot traffic and community gatherings. Local business owners and city leaders say the project is sparking new investment, adding beloved spots like a bookstore-café and gelato shop, and creating the vibrant commercial center residents have long wanted.
• West Nile Virus found in 4 DeKalb mosquito traps (fox5atlanta.com) — West Nile Virus has been detected in a mosquito trap in Avondale Estates' 30002 ZIP code, along with three other DeKalb locations, though no human cases are confirmed. Residents are urged to dump standing water, maintain yards, use EPA-approved repellents, and limit time outdoors at dawn and dusk to reduce mosquito bites.
• DeKalb Schools paying $29.5 million to charter schools (decaturish.com) — DeKalb County Schools will pay $29.5 million to seven charter schools after a lawsuit over withheld funds, with the Museum School of Avondale Estates slated to receive about $4.07 million. Local families can expect this settlement to strengthen charter school resources and affirm their equal funding status within the district.
