Barrow County Announces Options under 'School Choice'
The deadline to submit a transfer request form is 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 21.

The Barrow County School System issued the following press release Monday, May 7, informing parents of options for the upcoming school year.Β
Georgia State Law, often referred to as HB 251, gives parents of public school students theΒ option to consider transferring their child to another school within their district where spaceΒ is available and parents provide transportation. The law allows us to determine availableΒ space within the confines of our permanent buildings and classrooms, but does not requireΒ us to create additional classrooms beyond our budgetary limitations. Barrow CountyΒ Schools is pleased to be able to provide the following options for the 2012-13 school yearΒ particularly in light of the severe budgetary constraints which we are currently facing.

Transfer request forms are available online or parents can pick up a form at the .
The deadline to submit a request is 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, and proof of residency must be provided.
