Barrow County Educators Named Finalists in Woodruff Arts Center Recognition Program

Auburn Elementary School's principal and music specialist are finalists in the 2012 Woodruff Salutes Georgia Arts in Education Leaders Recognition Program.

Two Barrow County educators are among 15 finalists in theΒ Woodruff Arts Center's 2012 Woodruff Salutes Georgia Arts in Education Leaders Recognition ProgramΒ β€”Β Shawn Williams, principal at , andΒ Teresa Dressler, the school's music specialist.Β 

Three Georgia educators were chosen in each of five categories for exemplary leadership in the use of arts in education and their impact on the community, state and discipline they serve, according to a news release. Woodruff Salutes is a recognition program honoring teachers, school and arts administrators, as well as community leaders who have championed and demonstrated an ability of the arts to positively impact the lives and learning of young people.

One honoree will be selected from each category and will be announced at the fifth annual Woodruff Salutes Georgia Arts in Education Leaders recognition ceremony Saturday, Sept. 15, during National Arts in Education Week. Honorees will receive a $2,500 contribution to an arts program of their choice and will receive recognition events centering on the work in their own communities.
