Each week, Barrow Patch picks a great restaurant either in Barrow or nearby that is worth checking out.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Barrow Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:
Don’t let the Spitfire Deli’s location at the Barrow County Airport fool you — it also serves the surrounding region. The Spitfire is a good destination for an afternoon outing with the family to satisfy both children’s and adult’s fascination with the flying machine while having a delicious meal. The deli, named for the Spitfire airplane, the most strategically important British single-seat fighter used in World War II, aims to make your trip to the Barrow County Airport a treat. Sandwiches include premium quality ham and turkey, corned beef and tuna served on your choice of breads. Salad options include grilled chicken julienne, crispy chicken and a house salad for vegetarians. Soups and chilis are served during winter months and sides include coleslaw and fries. Also on the menu are hot items, such as beef and turkey burgers, chicken tenders, fish and chips (British style) and appropriately named for food served at an airport, the B-52 bomber, an 8-inch beef and pork hot dog. Save room for desserts. Choose from the all-American apple pie, lemon pie, chocolate lovers' brownie, cookies of the day and other sweets. Spitfire has a kid's menu and serves up specials, too. The Spitfire Deli is “Cleared for Take-off.”
