County Firefighters Raise More Than $16K for Give Burns the Boot Campaign

Barrow County Emergency Services thank residents for their generosity in giving.

Β this year raisedΒ $16,484.32 for theΒ Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation’s annual Give Burns The Boot campaign.Β 

On three Fridays in the month of June, firefighters were out and about, boots in hand, collecting donations from Barrow County residents.Β 

β€œEvery year our firefighters participate in this event to help the foundation in their efforts,” Lt. Ernest Weant, the boot drive coordinator, said in a news release, β€œand every year we are amazed at the generosity of the citizens and business in Barrow County.”

The money raised will be used to help the foundation in its mission to partner with the fire service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support medical facilities and assist burn survivors in their recovery.

The departments extends a special thanks toΒ Yetta Anderson with , as well as Leslie Boyd, Bobbie Metheny, Erica Fancher and Tina Plemmons from Fidelity Bank for their assistance in counting the donations, which included more than $3,000 in change.

β€œWe also want to thank the citizens of Barrow County for their wonderful support and generosity,” Weant said. β€œThey made this year’s boot drive very successful once again.”
