District Attorney to Seek Death Penalty for Jamie Hood

The accused cop killer's scheduled arraignment for Monday, Aug. 29, was postponed as a result.

Clarke County's district attorney plans to seek the death penalty for , the man accused of killing a police officer in March.

An arraignment scheduled for Monday, Aug. 29, was postponed after District Attorney Ken Mauldin filed notice of intent to seek the death penalty on Friday, Aug. 26.

The reports the court must now follow a Unified Appeal Procedure — a system that sets the order in which trial judges schedules pretrial hearings before arraignment and fast-tracks pretrial appeals to the state supreme court, such as challenges to the makeup of the jury pool or arguments to suppress evidence.
