Golf Cart Wiring Sparks Fire at Barrow County Home

The blaze caused heavy damage to the garage and resulted in smoke damage throughout the home.

Golf cart wiring is being blamed for a May 11 fire that caused extensive damage in the garage area of a home in the 900 block of Highway 211.

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire conditions in the garage of the home.

“They also found fire in a bedroom on the second floor of the home," stated Barrow County and Emergency Services Public Information Officer Lt. Scott Dakin in a press release. "Firefighters made a very fast aggressive attack on the fire and were able to quickly bring it under control.”

There was smoke damage throughout the home, Dakin added.

Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours to remove smoke from the home and check for any extension of the fire.
