Keep Your Eye on the Road: Recent Changes for Braselton Drivers

In addition to a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route 53 and Davis Street, the local town hosted a ribbon cutting last month marking the official opening of Broadway Avenue and Lewis Braselton Boulevard.

As part of its mission to stay true to the tagline “It’s Better in Braselton," the town of Braselton continues to keep the pedal to the metal with regard to roadway improvement plans.

The Georgia Department of Transportation recently announced a new traffic signal at the intersection of State Route 53 and Davis Street. Currently flashing in test mode, the signal is slated to be fully operational the afternoon of Tuesday, June 12, weather permitting.

“Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location. Remember to watch out for other drivers until they get used to the new signal too,” Georgia DOT District Traffic Engineer Brent Cook said.

Braselton drivers have also spent the past few months getting used to the new streetscapes near the historic downtown area. Celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony just last month, the Broadway Avenue and Lewis Braselton Boulevard portions of the Zion Church Roadway Realignment Project are officially open. A portion of the road — Lewis Braselton Boulevard — was named in honor of one of the town’s founders. The project has been much-anticipated, with many years in the planning stages and two of those devoted to construction.
