Local Cadets Achieving and Learning Important Life Lessons Through Service
Cadets assigned to the unit have polished their leadership skills, overcome the obstacles and proudly served their community.
The Barrow-Jackson Composite Squadron, the local unit of the Civil Air Patrol – United States Air Force Auxiliary, is proud to announce several achievements within the unit.
The squadron was named a “Quality Cadet Unit” by National Headquarters at Maxwell Air Force Base. This honor was given to only a handful of units within the State and serves as a testament to the dedication, professionalism and excellence of its members.
Cadet Andy Keena was named the Air Force Association Cadet of the Year for his continued excellence and proficiency within the program. This award may be given to one cadet per unit who consistently performs above expectations and serves as an example to his fellow cadet.

Cadet Michael Twitty was issued an Achievement Award for his dedication to service after assuming the title of Cadet Commander at the beginning of the restructuring in early 2014. Cadet Twitty showed himself to have been a master of servant leadership as he learned how to follow while leading others.
Cadets Andy Keena and Ben Swafford recently were awarded the Wright Brothers Award for completing the requirements for the fourth achievement within the cadet program. The Wright Brothers Award signals a transition for cadets from followership to leadership positions. In order to achieve the award the cadets were required to demonstrate physical fitness, academic readiness and proficiency in drill standards.
