Mother Found Shot to Death Near Hoschton; Husband is Main Suspect

Police say the 13-year-old daughter called 911 to report the shooting at a Hoschton-area residence.

Gwinnett Police say the husband is the main suspect in the Wednesday morning shooting death of his wife near Hoschton.

Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said the couple’s 13-year-old daughter called 911 around 4:30 a.m. to report her mother had been shot at 4295 Platinum Court.

Update: Police identified the woman as Melissa Kimsey, 30. The suspect is Rodney Kimsey II, 31.

Smith said when officers arrived, they found the man β€œacting erratically” a few houses away and took him into custody.

β€œUpon making entry to the home, officers located an adult female who had been shot multiple times,” Smith said. β€œEMS personnel determined that the victim was deceased, apparently from the gunshot wounds.”

The daughter wasn’t injured.

The husband was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and will remain in police custody after his release.
