Report: Charges Filed in Fatal Wreck on Ga. 316

A truck driver from Tennessee was charged as the at-fault driver in the fatal crash on Ga. 316 in Barrow County Wednesday afternoon.

The AJC reported Roger Bly of Murfreesboro has been charged with second-degree homicide by vehicle and following too closely in the three-vehicle accident on westbound Ga. 316 at Patrick Mill Road that killed Cody Brantley of Winder. Both charges are misdemeanors. Bly was booked in the Barrow County jail.

Investigators said Bly was driving a tractor-trailer that struck Brantley’s pickup from behind when Brantley was slowing down behind a large pickup pulling a trailer. The lead pickup came to a stop because a roadside lawn-mowing vehicle was partially in the right lane.
