Drug Busts in Winder and Bethlehem Net Seven Arrests

Following the execution of the two separate search warrants, deputies seized methamphetamines, marijuana, U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia and a 9mm pistol.

Two separate drug raids last week in Barrow County resulted in seven arrests by the  Crime Task Force.

A search warrant was executed Wednesday, July 25, at 166 N. Fifth Ave., Apt. C, in Winder. Both occupants, Don J. Newton, 57, and Laurie Bales, 40, were arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamines. Sheriff’s office officials seized about one-quarter of a pound of methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $5,000 and more than $26,000 in cash.

A second search warrant was executed Friday, July 27, at 755 Ridgeside Road in Bethlehem, where five occupants were arrested and face various charges. Deputies discovered various quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia throughout the house.

Henry Dewayne Aikens, 31, Timothy Lee Mize, 40, and Sandra Hope Hinkson, 34, were arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Cody Alan Conn, 29, and Courtney Renee Patterson, 19, were both arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. These five individuals may face additional charges as well.  

These arrests are the culmination of months of investigation by the crime task force. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity, drug related or not, to the sheriff’s office for investigation.
