Yargo Elementary School Suprised with $1,000 Grant

A request a Yargo Elementary School teacher made a few weeks ago was granted by Windstream and the company's SchoolsWIN program on Thursday, Nov. 10.

A teacher was surprised live on camera Thursday with a check made out to her school.Β 

Large in size β€” and written out for $1,000 β€” the check was a grant from Windstream's SchoolsWIN program, an initiative that supports schools in the company's service areas.

Teacher Meggan McNally, who helps students with Y-TV and the school's daily morning news cast, was surprised by Classroom Caravan crew and Windstream mascot Click on Thursday morning.

"It’s one of the most fulfilling thing sin the world just to see their faces and to know how much this money means to them," said Caravan crew member Brooke Cochran, a University of Georgia grad. "With budget cuts, schools have taken a hit."

In addition to presenting Yargo with a check, the Classroom Caravan crew is spending time in Winder volunteering. Today, crew members will be helping out with the at to help raise money for families to purchase Christmas gifts for their children. Next week, the crew will spend Monday and Tuesday delivering new books to elementary school students. The crew will be packaging meals from the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia on Wednesday and Thursday before delivering the packages to students.
