Brookhaven Baby's Death: Online Campaign Launched to Help With Funeral

8-month-old Kamonie Whitehead died over the weekend from injuries allegedly inflicted by her mother and boyfriend.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — An online fundraising campaign has been launched to help with the expenses of 8-month-old Kamonie Love Whitehead, who died over the weekend from injuries allegedly inflicted by her mother and boyfriend.

Police are waiting on the autopsy of the infant before determining if Shavone Whitehead, the girl's mother, and Edward Wilson will face additional charges related to the girl's death.

Kamonie Whitehead died at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Egleston after being on a ventilator. Police say the infant had been beaten repeatedly with a belt.

Whitehead and Wilson are already facing charges of cruelty to children and aggravated battery.

Police say the abuse happened at a home in the 1800 block of Corporate Boulevard. The infant was discovered by police when officers responded to a call of an unconscious infant.
