Bennett has come under fire from local Republicans for hiring what they call an unnecessarily large legislative staff for a rookie lawmaker.
District 80 includes portions of Brookhaven, Chamblee, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs.
So far only Republican Meagan Hanson has announced her candidacy.
Bennett is widely assumed to be seeking re-election later this year.
