Brookhaven Police Getting Body Cameras

The 60 cameras will cost $300,000. The city is also hiring one new detective and replacing several damaged police vehicles.

BROOKHAVEN, GA — Local police will soon be equipped with body cameras.

The Brookhaven city council has agreed to purchase 60 body cameras at a cost of $300,000, reports the Brookhaven Post.

The council also has approved the hiring of an additional detective to work crimes against children, and also agreed to replace several police vehicles that have been damaged in accidents.

Earlier this week, Cobb's board of commissioners voted to purchase 100 body cameras for its force, adding to its current allotment of 133 body cameras.

The Marietta police department purchased 142 body cameras and 70 in-vehicle cameras from Decatur, GA-based Utility Inc. in April.
