In Case You Missed It: Brookhaven Suspends City Manager
Final action on Marie Garrett's employment with the city has been deferred until next week.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- The city council decided on Wednesday to enter into mediation with suspended City Manager Marie Garrett, after a three-hour emergency session.
Newly elected Mayor John Ernst also said the city is delaying a decision on her fate, according to the Brookhaven Post.
Garrett was suspended by the Brookhaven City Council on Tuesday, and a specially called meeting was held earlier on Wednesday.

Brookhaven police chief Gary Yandura has been named interim city manager by Mayor John Ernst.
In a statement, as reported by the Brookhaven Post, Ernst said, “The City honors its obligations. Unfortunately some of the terms of the [Garrett’s] contract negotiated by previous administrations is ambiguous and does not allow the City to know what its duties are. While working towards an orderly transition, we have become mired in conflict over the terms and conditions of that agreement. The responsible thing to do is to have a third party resolve these disputes. We wish Marie Garrett well.”
