DeKalb Firm Heads to Nevada After Senate Religious Liberty Vote

373k, based in Decatur, isn't sticking around to see if the controversial proposal becomes law.

DECATUR, GA -- A DeKalb-based telecom startup is moving to Nevada -- immediately -- after the state Senate approved a controversial “religious liberty” law on Friday.

373k has 20 employees, including five in Georgia, reports the AJC.

Company founder Kelvin Williams is gay, and he knows the proposal hasn’t become law yet, as the measure is still working its way through the 2016 General Assembly. But he says the idea sends a message that Georgia isn’t a welcoming place for gays and the LGBT community.

He also says the bill, if it becomes law, would make it very hard to attract top-notch talent to his firm in Georgia.

HB 757 would allow faith-based organizations to deny service to gay couples if they have a religious objection to same sex marriage.
