Mandalas presumably depict and facilitate a centering of psychic energy. But “uncenteredness” may also play a positive role in our living of our lives, because it is often necessary to vitality and meaning. Many of the works in this exhibition feature snakes that are uncentered within the mandalas. The tension between snakes and mandalas, can, should be, and often is creative. William Willeford, PhD, a very early graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute (Zurich), practices analysis in Atlanta. He has been a Professor of English and Comparative Literature and is the author of two books and numerous articles, most of the latter in the Journal of Analytical Psychology (London).
