Ex-Cop Accused Of Killing Chamblee Veteran Wants Charges Dismissed

Attorneys for Robert Olsen say grand jury secrecy has been violated in the case.

DECATUR, GA — Attorneys for an ex-police officer accuse of killing an unarmed, mentally ill black man in Chamblee say charges against their client should be dropped.

Robert Olsen is accused of murdering Anthony Hill. On Friday, Olsen's attorneys said grand jury secrecy has been violated in the case, according to The Statesman.

The shooting took place last year at the Heights of Chamblee apartment complex. Hill, 27, was reported walking naked outside his apartment. A call to 911 brought Olsen to the scene, where he then shot and killed Hill.

Olsen, who is white, said he believed Hill was high on some drugs, and feared for his life. Hill, who was black, had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder while he was in the Air Force.

Olsen was indicted on murder charges in June, and has since resigned from the DeKalb County police department.
