MARTA's Plan For Brookhaven Station Development Met With Skepticism

A standing room only crowd on Tuesday night heard more about the agency's plans for the Brookhaven station.

BROOKHAVEN, GA -- MARTA presented its plans for developing the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe station to a standing-room only crowd at city hall Tuesday night, a group who met those plans mostly with skepticism.

More than 150 people attended the meeting, according to the Brookhaven Post. A MARTA senior executive highlighted the agency’s plans for the station, which include developing more than 120 apartments; up to 400,000 square feet of office space; 40,000 to 60,000 square feet of retail; up to 40,000 square feet of civic space and 150 hotel rooms.

A majority of those attending were concerned about the project’s density and the resulting traffic on nearby streets and neighborhoods.
