Man Who Died In Standoff Was Accused In Brookhaven Kidnapping
The man was accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl in Brookhaven.

BROOKHAVEN, GA β A man who police said died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound Tuesday morning during a SWAT standoff in Sugar Hill was accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl, Brookhaven Police said.
Police identified the man as Evan Michael Sieli, 31, of Sugar Hill.
Officers were responding to a report of an attempted kidnapping of a woman around 8:30 p.m. Monday, when they were told a 10-year-old girl was missing from the 3100 block of Buford Highway in Brookhaven, police said.

The girl had been kidnapped, police said.
The suspect was driving a black BMW, police said. Investigators used the Flock license plate reader system to identify the car, and Sieli was listed as the registered owner, police said.

The girl returned home around 10:15 p.m. and was taken to a hospital, police said.
Warrants were obtained to charge Sieli on suspicion of kidnapping and aggravated assault with intent to rape, police said.
Brookhaven Police officers requested the help of the Gwinnett County Police Department in serving the warrants on Sieli around 10:45 p.m. near Sycamore Summit in Sugar Hill, police said.
The situation led to an hourslong standoff that spilled over into Tuesday morning.
Gwinnett County SWAT officers were called to the scene around 1:45 a.m. after the man was seen armed with a rifle, Gwinnett County Police said.
The man is accused of shooting at officers multiple times around 4 a.m. during the standoff, hitting a SWAT robot and a nearby home, police said. A Gwinnett SWAT officer shot back, and the man went back into the home, police said.
The Georgia State Patrol arrived on the scene around 9:45 a.m. and helped Gwinnett SWAT officers enter the home, police said. The man was found dead from what police said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
