Atlanta GigaPower Internet on Hold Until Net Neutrality Issue Settled

The fiber optic cable network owned by AT&T gives users connection speeds of up to one gigabit per second.

A telecommunications company is putting the brakes on its plans to bring a super high speed internet network to the Atlanta area because of the unclear status of net neutrality.

The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that AT&T has temporarily stopped installing its GigaPower network because it is waiting for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to make a final ruling on whether or not internet service providers can charge additional fees for certain websites or connection speeds.

The AT&T GigaPower network, which AT&T has already installed in some Texas cities, allows subscribers to fully download an HD movie in 36 seconds and also includes improved TV services for business and residential customers.
