According to BuckheadView, the first phase of the study showed that there were no property or engineering issues attached to the proposal to building a park above Ga. 400 and the MARTA rail line between Peachtree and Lenox roads. Although the first phase of the study only cost $10,000, estimates for completing the ambitious project range from $100 to $200 million.
The second phase of the study, which was approved on April 28 at a cost of $39,500, will examine design options, economic impacts, and financing methods for the proposed park. BuckheadView reports that representatives on the board of the Buckhead CID and Atlanta City Councilman Howard Shook want to see a parking impact study included in a future phase.

Buckhead CID board member Thad Ellis said the proposal for Buckhead would mirror Houston’s Discovery Green project, a now-revolutionary park design that was a dozen years in the making, BuckheadView said.
