Buckhead Developers Reconsider Apartment Plans

The market for office space is booming in Buckhead.

The developers behind proposed 26 and 19 story apartment towers in the Buckhead Loop may decide to return to the drawing board to create an office building, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.

Crocker Partners LLC applied for a rezoning last year on a 6.5 acre plot at Georgia 400 and Piedmont Road, but sources tell the Chronicle that Crocker may decide to scrap the apartment plan and build office towers for high-rent firms planning to relocate to the Buckhead area.

Buckhead is experiencing an office space boom, with its mixture of nightlife, shopping, and easy access to transit; Tishman Speyer plans to break ground on Three Alliance Center, the first new office building of its kind in Buckhead for six years. The new building at Lenox Road and Ga. 400 will become a 30 story, 500,000 sq. ft. tower with floor to ceiling windows offering a panoramic view of the area.
