Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead Celebrates Welcoming Week

ATLANTA — During the week of September 17-23, The Carl E. Sanders Family YMCA at Buckhead hosted its annual "Welcoming Week." The event brought both immigrants and US-born citizens to the Y to get to know one and other and celebrate what unites them as a community.

Members were encouraged to bring their friends and neighbors to the Y to take advantage of special promotions such as a 5-day guest pass. The week's events included voter registration, the integration of international music in group exercise classes, learning healthy recipes from around the world and more. Members also learned about different Y’s from around the world and their impact on their communities.

"More than 1000 of our members marked their countries of origin on a map in our lobby," said Megan Looby, senior membership director at the Buckhead Y. "I was excited to learn that we have members representing more than 70 different countries at our Y!"
