Chicken Sausages Sold at Trader Joe's Recalled for Contamination Risk
Nearly 60,000 pounds of chicken sausage is being recalled, the USDA announced.

Trader Joeβs is recalling over 59,000 pounds of fully-cooked chicken sausage product after it was discovered some of it could be contaminated with plastic.
According to the USDA, Trader Joeβs branded βSweet Apple Chicken Sausageβ and βApple Maple Fully Cooked Breakfast Chicken Sausageβ is affected by this recall. Both products bear the establishment number βP7839β inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage has a case code of 9605 and use by/freeze by dates of β4 22 15,β β4 25 15,β and β4 29 15.β The Apple Maple Fully Cooked Breakfast Chicken Sausage has a case code of 9709 and use by/freeze by dates of βJUN 13 2015β and βJUN 20 2015.β

According to the USDA, manufacturer Kayem Foods was notified by two consumers that they found pieces of plastic in their sausage products. No injuries have been reported to the USDA regarding the recalled products.
