Christmas Fundraiser for OK Cafe Employees Nears $40,000 in Donations in Less Than a Week
The Buckhead eatery suffered extensive damage during a fire on Dec. 7, putting about 100 staff members out of work indefinitely.

A fundraiser established this week to help employees of a popular Buckhead restaurant that suffered from a massive fire last weekend has already met its goal and then some, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
100 staff at OK Cafe will be out of work for some time due to a fire which ravaged the restaurant on Sunday. It’s expected that repairs will keep the restaurant shuttered indefinitely.
To help the staff make it through the holiday season with as little financial hardship as possible, a fundraiser has been set up which will give 100 percent of the proceeds to the affected employees. The initial goal for the fundraiser was $25,000, but as of Thursday afternoon it has generated $38,452 for OK Cafe’s staff.

“Thank you to all who have donated and shared the OK Cafe Christmas fund!” Organizer John McColl wrote on the fundraiser’s CrowdRise page. “While we have achieved our initial goal of $25,000, there is still another $25,000 out there to be raised!”
