According to WSB-TV, agents reported that 50 kilos of meth and 14 kilos of pure brown Mexican heroin were discovered in a southwest Atlanta home during the Tuesday night raid. One arrest was made at the time, and others are expected to follow.
Agents said that the heroin was packaged as Mexican candy in an effort to smuggle it across the border; Atlanta has become a prominent distribution hub for illegal drugs, WSB-TV says.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution says agents received a tip about a home in the Lakewood Heights neighborhood and planned out a raid on the home. Once the raid was executed by the DEA and Atlanta police, agents discovered the home was being used to convert liquid meth into the crystallized form of the drug. Once inside the home, agents said they discovered boxes of De La Rosa candy which felt far too heavy for a candy bar; once they opened the boxes, they discovered they were filled with heroin.
The head of the DEA’s Atlanta office said that the value of the seized drugs would be approximately $8.1 million if they were sold locally, or about $2 million if they were sold wholesale elsewhere.
