Flowers Show Sacred Glory at Cathedral of St. Philip
Traditional English flower festival continues today
The glows with flowers, bringing a glorious outpouring of color to the fall season.
The cathedral flower guild's opened Wednesday and continues today. The traditional English flower festival shows an array of arrangements from different church flower guilds and local garden clubs.
The different flower guilds, which decorate their churches for holy services, draw inspiration from each other at the show, said Kevin Criswell of Cut Flower, a Buckhead flower wholesaler.

"It helps them get other visions and ideas and build their flower guilds," Criswell said.
, , First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, St. Luke's Episcopal, Holy Innocents Episcopal and St. Bartholomew's Episcopal are among flower guilds represented.

A popular display at the Mikell Chapel shows a fall wedding on a small flower budget, said Alvin Moore, head of the flower guild at All Saints Episcopal in Midtown, who designed the room. The cost is $250 for purchased flowers, with the rest "from flower guild members' gardens," Moore said.
Carrie Grayson, the flower festival chair, said that one woman traveled all the way from Washington State to attend the show, spending several days on theΒ train.
Along with the cathedral and grounds, the church's 100-year-old Lanier House contains gorgeous decorations from garden clubs and the Designers' Club. Participating garden clubs include the Rose Garden Club, the B, the Paces Garden Club, Pinetree Garden Club, Piedmont Garden Club, Sandy Springs Garden Club, Druid Hills Garden Club, Cherokee Garden Club, Habersham Garden Club and Peachtree Garden Club.
The show opens today at 10 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.
