John Lanier, Director of Ray C. Anderson Foundation Joins Southface Board

John A. Lanier, Foundation Director, has been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for Southface, the Southeast's nonprofit leader in the promotion of sustainable homes, workplaces and communities through education, research, advocacy and technical assistance.

“Southface is an outstanding organization, and I am humbled to have the opportunity to serve on its Board,” said Lanier.  “Its commitment to sustainability is absolute, focusing on market-based solutions to sustainability challenges in the built environment.  Ray loved this organization and its real-world approach.  I view this opportunity as one to continue advancing Ray’s own legacy as a champion for effective sustainable solutions.”

Ray Anderson was the inaugural recipient of Southface’s Argon Award in 2000.  For many years, Anderson served as honorary host of Southface’s Visionary Dinner, a role that his two daughters, Mary Anne Lanier and Harriet Langford, also filled in September, 2013.

Dennis Creech, Southface cofounder and executive director said, “Ray Anderson was tireless in his work growing future leaders who understood the importance of sustainability.  John Lanier epitomizes that part of Ray’s legacy. Southface is fortunate to have a talented young leader like John Lanier join our board. He brings fresh perspectives, experience in law and a passion for the Southface mission.”
