Local Non-Profit Seeks Volunteers to Provide Essential Support

LaAmistad Tutors are changing Outcomes for Latino Students and Families

AUGUST 30, 2021 – ATLANTA, GA – LaAmistad is seeking volunteers who can offer elementary school age Latino students homework help in-person or online. No Spanish or education experience is required for this rewarding work. Several opportunities exist, from tutoring students 2 days per week to one-time group-oriented community service events for companies, churches or any group hoping to make a difference.

LaAmistad, which simply means “the friendship,” is the premier organization serving Latinos in metro Atlanta since 2001. With an environment built on the premise of friendships and relationships, LaAmistad promotes educational excellence and helps students, parents, and families achieve a better quality of life through after school tutoring, parent workshops and ESL classes.

Afterschool volunteers have the flexibility to choose a schedule that works best for them. The commitment is only 2 hours per week with students, each being a 1-hour session between the hours of 3:00pm and 6:00pm, Monday - Thursday. Available days and times vary by location, and can be found at https://www.laamistadinc.org/Programs/Afterschool.

Volunteering for LaAmistad is simple. Just register online and select an initiative to support! Previous experience is not required as every volunteer will work alongside staff, teachers, and a bilingual parent liaison to foster learning and laughter. Opportunities are open to both youths and adults!
