No Charges Filed in False Home Invasion Report
Incident still under investigation, police say

No charges have been filed in what police say was a false home invasion report Feb. 5Â involving a residence on Rilman Road, police spokesman Curtis Davenport said Friday.
Davenport said the incident, in which a family member told police he came home to encounter burglars who forced him to tie himself up, is still under investigation. Silverware was reportedly stolen from the home on the affluent street off West Paces Ferry Road.
Zone 2 Commander Robert Browning announced at a Feb. 10 Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods meeting that the 23-year-old man who reported the crime was later caught trying to pawn the silverware.

"You can rest easy, there was no real home invasion up there," Browning said.
As for the 23-year-old who made the report, Browning said, "We'll deal with our part and let the family deal with its part. They have some issues."

Jim King, chairman of the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods, said Friday he was relieved it was not a real robbery.
"The fact that it wasn't really a home invasion was a positive," King said. "That's about the scariest thing that can happen. It's sad for the family that this child is in trouble, but that can be dealt with."
Last summer, Chastain Park experienced a series of break-ins, King said, but the burglar was caught. Since then, "it's been really quiet," he said, adding "I've been real impressed by Zone 2."Â
