UPDATE: Northside Drive Repairs Complete, Road Open

UPDATE (10:00 p.m.): Repair crews have finished their work on a washed-out section of Northside Drive ahead of schedule and the Friday rush hour.

Northside Drive between Channing Drive and Collier Road was shut down while workers repaired the damage caused by a 20-inch water main which broke on Tuesday afternoon as contractors tried to remove a tree stump from the nearby ravine, WSB Radio said.

Early estimates predicted that the road will be closed until the weekend.

ORIGINAL STORY (3:56 p.m.): Buckhead motorists will need to plan for a few more days of strange traffic patterns while repair crews work to repair a damaged and closed section of Northside Drive.

A water main at the intersection of Northside and Springlake drives was punctured by contractors Tuesday afternoon. The burst main caused officials to shut down Northside Drive between Channing Drive and Collier Road. According to Neighbor Newspapers, crews are expected to continue to work on the closed portion of the roadway through the remainder of the week.

GDOT said in a press release that drivers should continue to avoid the area if at all possible.
