Ocean Prime to Open in Buckhead

A new high-end eating spot arrives in Buckhead this month when Ocean Prime opens on Piedmont Road.

The seafood (ocean) and steak (prime) place, part of the Columbus, Ohio-based Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, will open for dinner nightly Tuesday, Oct. 25, in the former longtime location of the jazz cafe Sambuca at 3102 Piedmont Road.

Ocean Prime assistant manager Randy J. Brown told NPU-B Tuesday night that the Atlanta location will be Ocean Prime's eighth in the country. He described the restaurant as serving "upper end" fare, with main dishes ranging from $24-$44. The restaurant will have live entertainment, he said.

Following Public Safety Committee approval, the NPU gave unanimous consent to Brown's liquor license request, technically a change of ownership becaude the restuarant is taking over the spot of a previous business.

Buckhead foodies can receive an advance preview of the restaurant and help a charity from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 at a special event benefiting . For $50 per person, participants can sample menu selections, cocktails and wines, according to a news release.

“We are very excited to introduce Atlantans to Ocean Prime while helping support Open Hand,” general manager Greg Sage said in a statement. “The monies raised at this event will be contributed to Open Hand’s Capital Expansion Campaign to help expand the organization’s campus to meet the ever-increasing needs of the community.”

The restaurant will be open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m, Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. Live entertainment begins at 6 p.m. in the Blu Lounge's piano bar. Ocean Prime's signature cocktail is the "Berries and Bubbles," a concoction of Belvedere citrus vodka, Grand Marnier-marinated berries, house-made sour and Domaine Chanon Brut Champagne.
