Photo Gallery: Wheelchair Racers and Peachtree Crowd

60,000 runners lined up to participate in what is hailed as the biggest 10K

Runners of all ages joined together to run the 2011 Peachtree Road Race this Fourth of July.

The race began with the wheelchair event at 6:45 a.m. Patients at Buckhead's Shepherd Center came out to watch the race and receive encouragement from the wheelchair athletes.

Then, the elite runners, followed by waves of everyday road warriors, ran for the finish line. For the world-class athletes, prize money was at stake, but for the amateurs, another T-shirt to add to the Peachtree collection was the prize, along with the satisfaction of finishing on a warm, humid morning.
