Two consecutive nights of sometimes violent protests erupted in Charlotte this week after a black police officer shot and killed Keith Lamont Scott, who was also black. Police say Scott was carrying a gun which he refused to drop and posed an imminent threat, which led to the killing. However, Scott's family disputes this account of the events.
In light of the violence, the NFL announced that it'sconsidering moving the location of the upcoming game between the Vikings and the Carolina Panthers, which is supposed to be played in Charlotte on Sunday.

Saturday's Atlanta protests are also being planned in response to the shooting death of Terence Crutcher, 40, in Tulsa, OK, a case in which the officer who allegedly shot Crutcher, Betty Shelby, is now facing manslaughter charges.
Atlanta was the scene of five consecutive nights of protests this past summer after police-related shootings of young, black men, including Philando Castile in St. Paul, MN, and other incidents nationwide.
