Shooting Victim Identified As Prominent Buckhead Executive

ATLANTA, GA — The woman who was shot late Sunday night and later died from her injuries in a car near Piedmont Park has been identified.

Police say Landa McIver died from her injuries after she was taken to Emory Hospital after the shooting. Police spokesperson Sgt. Kim Jones said McIver was inside the car with people she knew when a firearm discharged. Police have not released the names of the other people who were in the car at the time of the incident or if any charges will be filed.

McIver was in the front seat of the vehicle when the shooting took place. She died from her injuries early Monday morning.

The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.

McIver is the wife of labor and employment attorney Claud L. “Tex” McIver, according to the AJC. She also served as president of Corey Airport Services, an Atlanta-based marketing company whose logo adorns a smokestack-like structure on the downtown connector.

The McIvers live in Buckhead.

Tex McIver is a partner in Fisher Phillips, based in Midtown. According to his bio on the firm's website, McIver's legal career spans 40 years from the military to private practice. He is also a member of the American Bar Association's committee on gun violence.
