Ga. Power working to restore power; Comcast cable service out
Wieuca Road was open to traffic Wednesday afternoon after a city crew removed trees that had been blocking the major artery since the storm Monday night.
A crew from the city of Atlanta Forestry Division cleared one tree that completely blocked the road at Whittington Drive, close to the Sarah Smith Elementary School's Intermediate Campus. They also cleared two trees, one of them blocking one lane farther down Wieuca.
Jeff Stanley of the city's Forestry Division said the large white pine that fell across Wieuca at Whittington fell upon mainly cable and telephone lines. Major power lines on the other side of Wieuca were not hit, he said.
