Winter Weather Alert: FAA Issues Ground Stop for Hartsfield-Jackson Airport

No Atlanta-bound flights will be able to take off until the ground stop is lifted.

Travelers will want to check with their airlines to make sure their flights will be affected by a ground stop which will be in effect at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport until 4:30 p.m.

The ground stop, issued by the FAA, essentially locks down the tarmac, preventing flights at other airports which are bound for Atlanta from taking off. The stop will allow ground crews to clear current backlogs before more inbound flights arrive.

It is not clear whether the ground stop will be extended past 4:30 or which flights will be affected by the domino effect sure to arise from the stop.
