• Buford Competition Cheer Opens 2026 With Varsity Win (northgwinnettvoice.com) — Buford High's competition cheer teams kicked off 2026 strong, with varsity winning the Class 7A division and JV taking second at the North Forsyth Cheer Classic despite late injury shakeups. After debuting routines at Buford City Arena earlier this month, the Lady Wolves are already eyeing region and sectional success and return to the mat again this Saturday at Buford City Arena.
• DeSoto County Deputies Win Awards at Peach State Motor Rodeo (desotocountynews.com) — Buford recently hosted the 3rd annual Peach State Motor Rodeo, where motorcycle officers from across the Southeast, including DeSoto County deputies, tested their precision riding skills in courses organized by Gwinnett County Police. While the awards went home with out-of-state riders, the event highlighted Buford's role as a regional training hub for traffic enforcement and escort skills that officers use daily.
