14 Pounds of Marijuana Seized From Floyd County Home

Two men have been charged with trafficking in marijuana following a six-month investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

ROME, GA -- A six-month investigation resulted in the arrest of two Floyd County residents on charges of trafficking in marijuana.

Members of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office, Region 1 Calhoun Office and the Georgia State Patrol on Friday arrested 35-year-old Tyson Lamar Brown and Maverick Brown, 57.

Throughout the state's investigation, agents began to purchase marijuana from a home in the 100 block of Jim Lee Drive in Rome, which the GBI states is the primary residence of the younger Brown.

The investigation also led agents to a location in the 100 block of King Bee Circle and 301 B Camp Street, both of which are in Rome.

Search warrants were executed at all three residences and about 14 pounds of marijuana was discovered, along with packaging materials for distribution, the GBI said. Agents also unearthed $127,868 in cash and two firearms.

Tyson Brown is charged with distribution of marijuana and trafficking in marijuana while Maverick Brown is charged with one count of trafficking in marijuana.

Other charges and arrests are expected as the investigation unfolds. Both suspects were booked into the Floyd County Jail on March 10.

The GBI West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office was also assisted by the Rome Police Department and the Floyd County District Attorney’s Office in its investigation.
