BARTOW COUNTY, GA -- A 20-acre wildfire that broke out near the Bartow County/Cobb County border is now under control.

That's according to Wendy Burnett, a spokesperson with the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Burnett said the fire was reported along Liberty Square Drive, which sits off Glade Road/Cherokee Street in unincorporated Acworth.

Meanwhile, the Rough Ridge fire raging in the north Georgia mountains continues to burn. The blaze, which started Oct. 16 by a lightning strike, had consumed more than 19,000 acres, the U.S. Forest Service said.

The nearly month-old fire has burned primarily in the Cohutta Wilderness area of the Chattahoochee National Forest, near Georgia's borders with Tennessee and North Carolina. On Monday, the Georgia Forestry Commission said it's put out 21 wildfires, and it continues to battle three active fires on Lookout Mountain and another in Rocky Face.

The fires have found friendly conditions to thrive in, thanks to what the National Weather Service refers to as an "exceptional" drought situation in much of the state.

These drought conditions have forced Gov. Nathan Deal to impose a ban on the use of commercial fireworks in 110 counties.
