Accused Drunk Driver Crashes Into Car After Leaving Liquor Store

A witness to the accident told Cartersville police that the motorist was seen driving recklessly before crashing head-on into another car.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A driver accused of causing a head-on collision after he allegedly left a liquor store has been charged with driving under the influence in connection to the accident. Cartersville police were dispatched to the scene of the crash around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 on Etowah Drive SE at Old Mill Road.

According to an incident report, a 1997 Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Old Mill Road towards Etowah Drive when it crashed into a 2018 Honda Pilot, which was traveling west on Old Mill Road towards Terrell Drive.

The driver of the Civic, identified as Paul Michael Sisk of Euharlee, "was unable to make a statement due to his level of intoxication," the accident report released by the Cartersville Police Department states.

The woman behind the wheel of the Pilot said she saw the Civic leave its lane of travel and make its way into the path of her car.

"Driver 2 attempted to swerve out of the way and was struck by Vehicle 1," the report states.

A witness to the accident told police that the Civic was seen leaving a liquor store, Toad's Beverage Co., and was laying drags and driving recklessly. The Civic passed several vehicles before veering from its travel lane and crashing into the Honda Pilot, the witness added.

Sisk was charged with DUI alcohol, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving, the report shows. A passenger inside the Honda Pilot complained of neck and back pain, and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
