Allatoona Lake Drowning Victim Identified

Ryan Tyndall, 25, of Snellville drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming in the lake near Allatoona Landing in Bartow County.

The man who drowned Sunday afternoon in Allatoona Lake in Bartow County has been identified.

Ryan Tyndall, 25, of Snellville reportedly drowned ”as he was swimming from shore chasing a float,” said Mark McKinnon, spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s Law Enforcement Division.

DNR officers received a call around 4:03 p.m. of the incident, which occurred in the Allatoona Landing area of the lake. DNR units, along with Bartow County Fire, Rescue and EMS officials, arrived onto the scene by 4:13 p.m.

Tyndall’s body was recovered just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday’s drowning comes on the heels of three additional drownings reported at the lake this year. Last month, Varun Krishnamurthy, 27, drowned when he jumped off a platform tube and never resurfaced. Also, six-year-old Corday Dimilo Duffy drowned in the lake at the Sweetwater Campground in Cherokee County during a visit with his family.

Euharlee resident Chance Werner, 18, also drowned over the Memorial Day weekend after he was tied to a shopping cart as part of a game.
