Bartow County-based League for Animal Welfare recently purchased and donated five hand-held sensors for use, Sheriff Clark Millsap said.
These sensors are used to determine the temperature of various items and surfaces, and can also be used to measure the temperature inside a vehicle.

Millsap welcomed the donation, and has even put the sensors to use by patrol units.
The sensors can also be used to test the temperature inside a vehicle a child or an animal was rescued from, which would be used to determine if criminal charges are warranted.
“The sensors are great to have to help spread the word of how dangerous it is to leave a child or an animal in vehicle with the windows up,” Millsap added.
